How can you have a holiday abroad at home?

I was all packed and ready to go on holiday with my fianc©e when she came down with a really bad stomach ache, the day before we were going to leave. Both of us had been really looking forward to going on this 3 week holiday, and it was the only time that we could get off work this year. So there wasn’t anything for us to do, just sitting at home.
As we cancelled our holiday, a friend told us about the Virtual holidays. What an earth is a Virtual holiday, i wasn’t at all sure about this. This web-site takes you on a tour around the cities of the planet, and you need not move from your seat. Trying to get some of these holidays when your not well isn’t easy, so something like this can work well.
This didn’t really appeal to me at first; I thought that this can hardly be fun. My first thoughts of this were that it was going to be like a trailer for a film, but made for holidays.
It was a lot more fun and informative than i first thought. We did pay for the one that we wanted, but some sites offer this for free. We paid for a tour round New York, which is where we were going to go. We did have quite a lot of “maneuverability” as well, we could go through museums and travel to specific locations, as long as they were in the system. This was great, it took us all over the city, including museums and parks, the sound was very clear and the picture steady.
We got everything out of this virtual holiday that we really wanted. Virtual holidays could be the next big thing and it looks as though they are spreading to new locations.
We had fun trying this vacation, although it isnt the same as the actual thing, it is close, we would like to try the Egypt holidays or Maldives holidays one, where the trips are far too expensive for us to try, maybe Christmas holidays just got a lot cheaper?
